Last Autumn in Paris

Original title: Último otoño en París

Eva leaves Madrid and her marriage behind for a job as director of the UN Department for the Campaign Against Child Poverty in Paris. But soon her initial enthusiasm will be blunted by an organization seemingly suffering from permanent paralysis.

Her determination to change things will see her work an exhausting schedule and travel around the world. It is on these journeys that she meets a mysterious diplomat but the organization that brought them together and sent them to see far-off countries, marginalized peoples and experience incredible luxury will also present them with a future for which they weren’t prepared.

Último otoño en París is a plea for cooperation and an intelligent criticism of international institutions. But it is also an original love story whose protagonists can only meet fleetingly on planes en route to different destinations told from the point of view of an independent woman chasing a mirage.

The protagonist lives in a glamorous Paris filled with cocktail parties and receptions but also travels to exotic places and witnesses terrible social inequality.

The novel is inspired by the author’s real life experiences.
